This is the animation reel for the interactive installation The Oracle. These animations played at the bottom of the well inside the installation’s immersive temple space. Each reading contained a unique combination of two animations, resulting in a final hexagram with text from the Yi Jing, triggered by a coin toss. The Yi Jing randomizer was coded by a creative technologist, using the sacred math of the Yi Jing. Stop-motion animations were created used collage, painting, paper cut techniques, archival photographs, found and natural materials. Animations created by missTANGQ (Huameng Yu) and music by Jyun Jyun (Louis Chinn).

Live performance included these animations, storytelling, live instrumentation and vocals performed at Seattle Town Hall in partnership with The Common Acre. This new mythos tells the story of environmental degradation and climate change through a love story between a fisherman and his fish and their interconnected futures. Music from the orbé orbé album Invisible Kingdoms.
A sample of gif animations created by missTANGQ from 2014-15 using collage, illustration, paper cut and folding techniques with natural, archival, and found materials. The two songs featured in this video are “First Night” and “Malecon” and were composed and recorded by Jyun Jyun (Louis Chinn). Many of these animations were used in multi-media stage show collaborations between missTANGQ and Jyun Jyun that were projected on to a 10‘ x 10’ screen to live music and shadow dancing and puppetry.
