This is the animation reel for the interactive installation The Oracle. These animations played at the bottom of the well inside the installation’s immersive temple space. Each reading contained a unique combination of two animations, resulting in a final hexagram with text from the Yi Jing, triggered by a coin toss. The Yi Jing randomizer was coded by a creative technologist, using the sacred math of the Yi Jing. Stop-motion animations were created used collage, painting, paper cut techniques, archival photographs, found and natural materials. Animations created by missTANGQ (Huameng Yu) and music by Jyun Jyun (Louis Chinn).

Zétéo is a collaboration between missTANGQ and Jyun Jyun. Comprised of over 1,500 single shots, it is a stop-motion animation made with collage, watercolor painting, cut-paper and natural materials from the rainforest of Hawaii. Emphasizing hand-made mediums, this animation was intentionally created with minimal digital editing. Zétéo is based on the Greek mythology of soul reunions and the word for “The desire to seek what has been lost.”
